40 Years Ago Today

Posted on 10:12 AM by Kim Randall

40 years ago today Eddy Merckx won Tour de France.

40 years ago today Carol Mann won the LPGA Danbury Lady Carling Golf Open.

40 years ago today at 10:56 p.m. EDT, American astronaut Neil Armstrong spoke words that even I am familiar with, "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.", as he stepped off the lunar landing module Eagle, 240,000 miles away from Earth. Armstrong became the first man to step foot on the moon and the entire world stood still to watch.

Last week my Uncle was telling me all about the moon landing. How that's all they watched at school that day and how it was the coolest thing that had ever happened. As he was telling me; his eyes were all lit up and he was possibly just as excited then as he was 40 years ago when he witnessed it first hand.
I would love to hear from you. Where were you watching this happen? Who were you with? What do you remember most?
